Developed in collaboration with Abu Dhabi-based climate-tech firm CarbonSifr, Green Drive enables students to complete their practical driving training with net-zero carbon emissions. It marks a bold and timely step toward realizing smarter, more sustainable mobility solutions across the Emirates.
“As the leading provider of driver training in Abu Dhabi, we recognize our role in shaping not just safer roads, but a more sustainable future,” said Khaled Al Shemeili, CEO of EDC. “Green Drive is more than an initiative—it’s a statement that climate responsibility belongs in every part of life, including behind the wheel.”
The programme uses internationally recognized carbon accounting methodologies to assess the carbon footprint of each student’s training sessions. This includes data on vehicle type, driving distance, and fuel consumption. The calculated emissions are then fully offset through globally verified environmental projects, at no additional cost to students.
Upon completing the course, each participant receives a Certificate of Appreciation acknowledging their role in supporting carbon-neutral mobility education.
One of the standout features of Green Drive is its flexibility across vehicle types. Unlike many green mobility efforts that are restricted to electric or hybrid models, this programme applies to any type of vehicle, making it both inclusive and scalable.
Initially available for VIP car driving license packages, EDC has plans to expand the programme across all license categories, further embedding climate responsibility into every stage of driver development.
“This is a practical and scalable example of climate action,” said Onur Elgun, CEO of CarbonSifr. “Green Drive brings together innovation, data, and environmental impact in a way that is simple, measurable, and meaningful.”
The Green Drive initiative is aligned with EDC’s broader sustainability agenda. The company has been awarded a AAA sustainability rating—the highest distinction in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) excellence by leading global agencies. It’s a testament to EDC’s role not just as a training provider, but as a forward-thinking, impact-driven organization shaping the future of mobility.
Initiatives like Green Drive are redefining what responsible mobility looks like—and they will play an important role in global conversations at the upcoming Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) 2026 in Abu Dhabi. As the UAE strengthens its leadership in clean transportation, EVIS 2026 will serve as a platform to showcase transformative solutions like carbon-neutral driver training, smart mobility systems, and green infrastructure innovations.
The road to net-zero starts with bold, actionable steps—and EDC’s Green Drive is paving the way for a new generation of eco-conscious drivers.
