Green Drive: Driving Toward Net Zero
Developed with Abu Dhabi-based climate-tech firm CarbonSifr, Green Drive enables students to complete practical driving sessions with net-zero emissions. The programme represents a bold step toward smarter and more sustainable mobility solutions across the Emirates.
“As the leading provider of driver training in Abu Dhabi, we recognize our role in shaping not just safer roads, but a more sustainable future,” said Khaled Al Shemeili, CEO of EDC. “Green Drive is more than an initiative—it’s a statement that climate responsibility belongs in every part of life, including behind the wheel.”
How It Works
The programme uses internationally recognized carbon accounting to measure emissions from each training session. It factors in:
-
Vehicle type
-
Driving distance
-
Fuel consumption
EDC then offsets the emissions through globally verified environmental projects at no extra cost to students. Upon completion, each participant receives a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing their role in advancing carbon-neutral mobility education.
Flexible and Scalable
Unlike many green mobility programs limited to EVs or hybrids, Green Drive applies to all vehicle types. This inclusivity makes the initiative both practical and scalable.
The pilot is currently available for VIP car license packages, but EDC plans to expand it across all license categories. This approach embeds climate responsibility into every stage of driver education.
“This is a practical and scalable example of climate action,” said Onur Elgun, CEO of CarbonSifr. “Green Drive brings together innovation, data, and environmental impact in a way that is simple, measurable, and meaningful.”
EDC’s Broader Sustainability Agenda
Green Drive is part of EDC’s larger sustainability mission. The company recently earned a AAA sustainability rating, the highest ESG distinction from leading global agencies. This recognition highlights EDC’s role as more than a training provider—it positions the company as an impact-driven leader shaping the future of mobility.
Showcasing at EVIS 2026
Initiatives like Green Drive will play a central role in global clean mobility discussions at the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) 2026 in Abu Dhabi. The event will spotlight carbon-neutral training, smart mobility systems, and green infrastructure innovations.
As the UAE strengthens its leadership in clean transportation, EVIS 2026 will serve as the ideal stage for transformative solutions like Green Drive.
The Road Ahead
The road to net zero begins with bold, actionable steps. EDC’s Green Drive programme paves the way for a new generation of eco-conscious drivers, reinforcing the UAE’s vision for a sustainable mobility future.
