Elon Musk’s Boring Company Brings Loop System to Dubai

Dubai's ambitious Railbus project is gaining momentum, with technical studies expected to be completed within the next two years. This innovative transport network aims to offer a greener and more cost-effective commuting option, seamlessly integrating with existing infrastructure like the Dubai Metro and Tram.

A New Era of UAE Transportation

Etihad Rail has unveiled a groundbreaking high-speed, all-electric passenger train. It will soon redefine travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The train can reach 350 km/h and will cut travel time between the two emirates to just 30 minutes. As a result, it marks a bold step toward sustainable transportation in the UAE.

Six Key Stations Along the Route

The high-speed train will connect six major stations. In Abu Dhabi, it will stop at Reem Island, Saadiyat, Yas Island, and Zayed International Airport. In Dubai, passengers can board near Al Maktoum International Airport and Al Jaddaf district.

Furthermore, Etihad Rail plans to add a regular passenger train network, giving the UAE wider connectivity.

Economic and Infrastructure Benefits

Etihad Rail will begin infrastructure development after completing the tendering process. Although no launch date has been set, Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief Projects Officer, highlighted its transformative potential.

Over the next 50 years, the project is expected to contribute Dh145 billion to the UAE’s GDP. Consequently, this strengthens the nation’s role as a global leader in sustainable growth.

Regular-Speed Train Expands Connectivity

In addition to the high-speed service, Etihad Rail will launch regular passenger trains. These trains will travel at 200 km/h and carry up to 400 passengers.

The network will connect all seven emirates and extend into Oman. It will also integrate with the future GCC Railway. Strategic stations will be located in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah. Routes will pass through Mezeira’a and the scenic Liwa Desert.

Driving the UAE’s Sustainable Vision

Both high-speed and regular trains highlight Etihad Rail’s commitment to eco-friendly, efficient travel. In addition, they align with the UAE’s long-term strategy for a greener and more sustainable future.
